Eugene has been there many times. I am sure we will have a wonderful time together. Here is a brief agenda of this trip,
· July 4th we will meet in front of my house, park the cars, and drive out with 3 cars. Eugene will drive his SUV. Eric Zhu will drive his minivan, and I will drive my 4Runner. Whoever you like to ride with, please contact that driver for booking your seats. We will share all the cost for this trip, except the one contribute his car will not pay for gas.
· Our first stop will be White Mountain.
http://www.sonic.net/bristlecone/ It will take about 5-6 hours to drive there. We may leave there around 8 PM. It will be quit cold up there, and can be worse if it is windy. So please prepare some warm cloth and hiking shoes. We will also need eat our picnic that nigh that night. So please prepare some food like convenience noodle and can food. Enough for two meals should be sufficient for the whole trip. I and Mitchell will bring two gas cookers and kitchenware. So we can boil the water for the noodle.
· Then we will spend our first night at Lone Pine. We have reserved 7 rooms in a local motel,
http://www.dowvillamotel.com/. We may reach the motel around 10 PM on July 4th.
· July 5th morning, we will leave the hotel around 5:30 AM. The sun rise will be 6 AM. We are going to drive to Alabama Hills (
http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/27537853sMlMKktgCj) right next to Lone Pine for the morning shots.
· After that, some of us may take a nap back to the hotel. We will drive north, and may have our lunch at Bishop. There is a best Chinese restaurant in that area.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/imperial-gourmet-chinese-restaurant-bishop Don’t be too disappointed if you compare it with Chinese food in LA.
· After lunch, some of us may drive to Bodie ghost town (
http://www.bodie.com/). Some of us may want to go to Yosemite East Entry, which is about 10 miles away. Before sun set, some of us will gather at Mono Lake, taking photos of the Tufa (
http://www.monolake.org/photogallery/photo.htm).
· We will stay at Virginia Creek Settlement on July 5th. Here is the link,
http://www.virginiacrksettlement.com/. We booked a cabin, sleep of 5, a motel room, sleep of 4, and a two bed room suite, sleep of 4. There will be beds for 13 people. Two of us may have to sleep on the floor or coach at the living room of that two bed room suite. I will bring two sleep bags.
· There is not a fixed schedule for July 6th at this point. I suggest going to Yosemite East Entry for the sun rise. Else, we may just wonder around that morning before driving back home. There are a lot beautiful lakes in that area, June Lake, Twin Lake, Mammoth Lake, and etc. Since we drive 3 cars, there should be enough flexibility for everyone’s choice.
Other than White Mountain, the weather will be mild, around 50F to 80F. Not too harsh for most of us.
Please give Mitchelle, Yuhong, or myself a call if there is any questions and concerns. Else, we will see each other on 9AM, Friday morning.
Best Regards,
